Tourism in California is a very big and important part of our state's economy, employing more than a million persons. Much of the tourism activity takes place in "rural" areas, which, in addition to the expected agricultural lands, includes wine country, mountain resorts, coastal cities, historic towns, famous landmarks, national parks and much more.

The California Countryside™ program is a coalition of rural destinations and museums, as well as interested associations, located in or serving these areas.
