The giant murals showcase Exeter's cultural heritage. The
town's historic brick buildings provide "canvasses" for these
public artworks, painted by professional muralists from across
the United States. The orange harvest, cattle drive, wildflowers,
the life of the local Yokut Indians, food labels, and the
railroad are some of the subjects; an average of three to
four murals are added each year.
Located in California's agricultural heartland, Exeter
is known for producing a variety of citrus crops, deciduous
fruit and table grapes. In the early spring, the countryside
is vibrant with blossoming fruit trees and wildflowers. Harvest
time brings the Fall Festival, celebrated since 1913.
In
the celebrity department, Exeter is home of the "Riata Ranch
Cowboy-Girls," talented trick riders and ropers who perform
all over the world.
The Exeter
area offers a variety of lodging options, from national brand
hotels to small inns and independent bed & breakfasts. Surrounded
by California's agricultural bounty, Exeter's restaurants
feature fresh, home-cooked menus complemented by a range of
more familiar roadside eateries. The friendliness and charm
of Exeter stay with you.
The
Exeter
