Nestled in the foothills between Visalia and Three Rivers along Highway 198 is Lemon Cove. Just 25 minutes from the entrance to Sequoia National Park, Lemon Cove has campgrounds and bed and breakfast inns. Just outside of town is Lake Kaweah, for boating, swimming, fishing, and wildlife viewing. Just east of Visalia is the Kaweah Oaks Preserve, an enchanting forest of century old oaks, sycamores, cottonwoods, and ash trees great for hiking and wildlife viewing.

Just south of 198, Exeter offers an outdoor art gallery, giant murals celebrating Exeter's history & culture, antique & specialty shops, and a spectacular setting at the base of the Sierra Nevada range.

Farmersville is one of the oldest communities in Tulare County, and is in a thriving agricultural area of cotton, walnuts, tree and field crops. The city was once a stop for the Butterfield Stage. Lindsay is set at the base of the Sierra Nevada range on Highway 65. An All American City designee in 1995, Lindsay is blessed with several fine restaurants.

SpringvilleSpringville, and the adjacent Pierpoint Springs, Camp Nelson and Ponderosa communities, are popular gateways to the Sequoia National Forest and the Giant Sequoia National Monument. This friendly, foothill village also offers a variety of shops, restaurants and lodgings to accommodate visitors. Professional rodeo, many popular festivals such as the Apple Festival and Mountain Festival, and a historical museum are located in Springville, a northwest entrance to the southern portion of the National Monument.

Porterville's turn-of-the-century homes draw visitors and the town is also a popular casting-off point for anglers heading for the Golden Trout Wilderness. Porterville hosts an annual Community Fair and Jr. Livestock Show, an Iris Festival, a Music Fest and many more events. Pixley National Wildlife Refuge, a nature area renowned for its birdwatching and photography opportunities, lies just southwest of Porterville.

Another popular Sequoia region retreat is Balch Park, (a county park) and the surrounding Mountain Home Demonstration State Forest, in the redwood forests above Springville. Six campgrounds along rivers, streams, and lakes and fishing, picnicking, horseback riding, and Giant Sequoias are here.

Tule River Indian Reservation is a historic area east of Porterville where local festivals provide visitors with a look into Native American rituals, crafts and lore. The reservation is also home to campgrounds and Eagle Mountain Casino.
