Spring through September is County
Fair season across the California Countryside.
In addition to all the scenery and sunshine,
travelers can enjoy events, exhibits, entertainment
… and more farm animals than you can shake a
shovel at. Not to mention the chance to browse
arts & crafts products and eat scrumptious fair
food. Many of California's county fairs also
offer horse racing (check out the mule races
for furious and fast-footed fun), thrill-ride
carnivals and pyro-spectacular fireworks. All
offer a great way to engage locals in easy conversation.
This is the way to feel in a place, not just
at it.
From the famous jumping frog contest
of the Calaveras County Fair to fine wine auctions
at the Sonoma County Fair, every one has its
own style and some unique features.
